Hah. In my own defense, I saw your view on the gutless thing right after I said it.

And as usual, I am always open to being corrected. I still have high hopes for AJ and am praying Hughes makes it through the season healthy.

i think the exception to that 60% rule is when he pitches like he did in game 2 and we go on to win the series. even if he craps out for the next 4 years, we got the monkey off of our back and won a world series. i'd say that barring massive injury at this point, burnett has been worth it, he's exactly what we expected him to be, and he pulled out his good stuff when it mattered most. it doesn't really matter that he crapped out in game 5 b/c we won the series.

however, he was wrong about hughes being a waste and the character of the team. fantastically wrong about the character i might add. the character was one of the best parts of this team. all the pies, nick swisher, c.c., tex, jeter, a-rod being low key, all of it worked so perfect, i loved this team and will always hold a soft spot for them in my heart for years and years.

Its odd Ryan this team for me was one of my least favorite of all the title teams. IN fact I think it might be my least favorite of the ones I have seen.

Top 5 in order

77
78
96
98
00

The first couple are always the most special.

This team I never really connected with, and I dont know why although I have a feeling it is the fact that so many of them were purchased on the open market like mercenaries. Perhaps in 3 -4 years CC AJ and Tex will become favorites of mine but not now.

I was happy for the vets to get one more together at least before Andy and Jorge retire.

Also in soccer the fans are the main part of the game, between the riots, shootings and destroying the stadiums.

Come to think about it, it is almost like playing in Philadelphia.

we have to agree to disagree i suppose. i was old enough to remember the late 90's teams, but young enough to get spoiled by them without realizing it. i've been dying to see them win it for years now, and last winter went JUST how i wanted it to, maybe we overpaid a bit for aj, but i did want c.c., though i wanted tex more, and then swish was a super pleasant surprise. then a-rod was essentially redeemed, all the walk offs during the regular season, it was hard for me to not like this team.

at least we can all agree that it was great that they won it all.

I though the Tex Sigining was big for us. As much as the position at 1b doesnt need a GG/top notch calibre player we have been mediocre since Tino left the team. I also think Alex keeping his mouth shut and finally becoming a team player was the key. Lets hope Gardner can pick it up at the plate and Long can get Grandy to go the other way instead of being pull happy with our short porch
